Michael is a DC metro based multi-instrumentalist on piano, keyboards, guitar, dobro and mandolin. He is a member of the Virginia based group The Jazz Infuzion, www.jazzinfuzion.com. He grew up in McLean, Virginia and was introduced to music around age six. Michael started playing jazz guitar in eighth grade and studied jazz under George Horan’s Jazz Lab at Langley High School for four years. He attended college at Virginia Tech playing jazz piano and guitar. Hit the DC 1980's music scene with local bands doing mostly Top 40, standards, dance and Motown.
Ongoing musical experience includes keyboardist for The Jazz Infuzion, contemporary Christian music through local churches, backing singer/songwriters and doing solo guitar gigs. Personal musical emphasis is on standard and contemporary jazz, finger-style acoustic guitar, and occasional dobro and mandolin as the need arises.
Michael's musical walk has been influenced by many –Chic Correa, Stevie Wonder, Happy the Man, Return to Forever, Gregg Karukas, Tim Eyerman, Jeff Lorber, Herbie Hancock, Coleman Mellett, Joni Mitchell, Michael Hedges, Andy McKee, Neil Larsen, Seldom Scene, Kelly Joe Phelps, and locally by Scott Martin, Michael Manring, Peter Princiotto, Paul Piper, and so many from the Washington, DC area.
